Lightner, who also teaches at Everett's Pacific Culinary Studio, has years of experience experimenting with different food flavors from around the world. She enjoys teaching people how to incorporate different flavors into everyday meals. The free program begins at 11 a.m. Wednesday at memorial Community Church, 710 Pecks Drive in Everett. Lake Stevens Arts Commission to discuss concert series Meribeth Hutchings of Windermere Real Estate is scheduled on Wednesday to discuss sponsorship of the city's Music on the Lake program. Marysville Council to discuss development trends The City Council is scheduled tonight to discuss information on residential, commercial and industrial projects approved over the past three years in Marysville. The workshop meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Marysville City Hall, 1049 State Ave. The information is considered useful for understanding Marysville growth and development trends. Monroe Group seeks board members The U.S. 2 Safety Coalition plans to accept nominations and requests for two open board positions at the group's next meeting April 21 in Monroe. One position was occupied by Jeff Brand. The other is currently filled by former Sultan Mayor C.H. Rowe, who said he will apply to remain on the nine-member board. New board members are expected to serve through 2012. Those who are interested in serving on the board are encouraged to send a letter, resume and application explaining their interest, experience and skills to safety coalition@seanet.com or to U.S. 2 Safety Coalition, P.O. Mountlake Terrace Open house for storm water plan set Discuss the city's Storm Water Comprehensive Plan at an open house planned by the city of Mountlake Terrace. The open house is planned from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall at 23204 58th Ave. W. Residents, business owners, property managers and others can comment on the plan, as well as storm and surface water related issues. Snohomish Commission gets new member The City Council on Tuesday appointed Sharon Snell to serve on the city's civil service commission. Her term will expire on June 6, 2012. Snell is a graduate from the Bellevue Police Department citizen academy. She has also served as a volunteer with the Everett Police Department. The civil service commission aids in the hiring and other personnel practices for employees within the city's police department. The commission also hears appeals or complaints regarding police personnel practices. More info: 360-568-3115. Stanwood Council discusses Harvest Jubilee An autumn farm festival in north Snohomish County is on the agenda for discussion at the next Stanwood City Council meeting. The council is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Stanwood-Camano School District administration building at 26920 Pioneer Highway. The council is scheduled to discuss the annual Harvest Jubilee, which is being planned for late September in Stanwood. Last year's event featured petting zoos and hayrides, as well as tours of several area farms. More info: harvestjubilee.org.
