Boeing: Tanker STILL doesn’t add up

Boeing has released its second “It doesn’t add up” advertisement about losing the U.S. Air Force’s $35 billion tanker contest.

The Air Force’s decision apparently does add up for the Air Force Association, which takes offense to Boeing's characterization of how the Pentagon handled the competition. Boeing says the Air Force skewed the deal toward competitor Northrop Grumman and EADS.

The AFA says it’s “strictly neutral on all military contract decisions.” But its chairman of the board had this to say in a press release:

“It is clear the Air Force made an effort to follow a fair, specific procedure with independent oversight,” said Bob Largent, AFA’s Chairman of the Board. “We urge the rhetoric to stop and let the GAO expeditiously complete the process requested. Until that time, comments suggesting the process was deliberately manipulated are without fact or substance and reflect negatively upon the integrity of the Air Force, its processes and its people, something the AFA believes is factually unwarranted.”
