Silvana theft suspect jailed after posting bail

Deputies say property in car likely was stolen

SILVANA -- He landed in jail again.

Snohomish County sheriff's deputies arrested Robert Boone, 38, Saturday morning, just a day after he bailed out of jail.

Police believe Boone is up to his old tricks.

Sheriff's deputies nabbed Boone at his mother's house Saturday after they found what appeared to be stolen property in the vehicle they seized Friday when they arrested him the first time last week, Snohomish County sheriff's spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.

Boone was booked into jail Saturday for investigation of possession of stolen property and trafficking in stolen property.

He was charged in January with the same crimes. Those charges stemmed from numerous thefts in his neighborhood in 2006 and 2007. During their investigation last year, detectives discovered urn markers from an Everett mausoleum on his property. Police believe one of the urns contained human ashes, but the urn was broken and the ashes were gone.

Neighbors have met with Snohomish County officials in recent months to discuss what can be done to protect themselves and their properties. They have been frustrated that Boone has been repeatedly freed from jail despite his ongoing criminal activity.

Boone was out on bail when he was arrested Saturday.

Neighbors on Wednesday spotted Boone snooping around their properties, they said. They called police, who tracked him to a Marysville metal recycler.

Boone had a warrant for his arrest for driving with a suspended license. Deputies seized a vehicle he was in and on Friday they searched it, Hover said. They found what appeared to be stolen property.

Directed patrol deputies went to the house, where he lives with his mother, but Boone refused to answer the door, Hover said. Deputies came back with a judge's permission to go into the house to get Boone. He hid until the last moment and then resisted arrest, Hover said.

He also was booked for investigation of third-degree assault on an officer. He was being held Saturday night on $70,000 bail.

Boone has a long criminal record, including serving time in prison for stealing a wheelchair from a disabled woman. His mother told police her son has a "theft problem and drug problem," according to court documents.
