Wild Sky wins approval in Congress, headed to President Bush

Creation of the Wild Sky Wilderness area cleared its last legislative hurdle today and is headed to President Bush for approval.

The House of Representatives approved a package of bills dealing with federal properties including one to establish the 106,000-acre Wild Sky Wilderness in eastern Snohomish County.

The House approved the Consolidated Natural Resources Act on a 291-117 vote. The Senate previously passed the omnibus bill.
