Political FYI: Appel to kick off his campaign

Deputy prosecuting attorney George Appel plans to kick off his campaign for Snohomish County Superior Court on May 7 with a reception at Lombardi's. 1620 W. Marine View Drive, Everett.

Appel is one of three Snohomish County candidates who have announced they will seek a seat now held by Judge Richard Thorpe. Thorpe has made it public that he will not seek another four-year term.

Appel, 42, has been a deputy prosecutor for 15 years and has handled everything from misdemeanor crimes to murders.

Two other lawyers who have announced for the job include Edmonds resident Jim Johanson and Joseph Wilson of Everett.
