Seahawks sign Tripplett

SEATTLE -- The Seattle Seahawks have added needed depth to their defensive line, signing former University of Washington star Larry Tripplett.

The Seahawks also signed linebacker Wesly Mallard and claimed quarterback Dalton Bell off waivers.

Tripplett's signing provides depth at defensive tackle that lost Chuck Darby in free agency and is unsure if Marcus Tubbs will return healthy from knee injuries. Tripplett spent his first four seasons with the Indianapolis Colts before playing the last two years in Buffalo.

Tripplett had 35 tackles and one sack last year for the Bills.

Mallard went to Oregon and has played in 59 career NFL games, mostly on special teams.

Bell was an undrafted free agent out of West Texas A&M. He was with the Green Bay Packers before being placed on waivers.
