PREP TENNIS: Warriors win Wesco South title

EDMONDS -- Three come-from-behind matches proved to be the difference for the Edmonds-Woodway girls tennis team (15-1 overall), as it clinched the Wesco South title with a 5-2 win over Jackson (14-2) on Friday at Edmonds-Woodway High School.

In the No. 3 singles match, Amanda Waldron fell behind in the first set but rebounded in the final two to earn a 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 win over Rosana Tran.

"She had a tough time getting going and she slowly pulled out of it," said Edmonds-Woodway coach Dan Crist. "She was playing better by the third set."

The Edmonds-Woodway tandems of Priscilla Huang and Allison Waugh (3-6, 6-2, 6-3) and Sophie Roben and Sarah Fine (4-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-2) won the final two doubles matches after rebounding from first-set losses.

"It was a close first set that could have gone any way. We ended up pulling away in the tiebreaker," said Crist about the Robin-Fine match.

Jackson finished in second place in the Wesco South.
