Investigation continues in death of child on Tulalip Indian Reservation

TULALIP -- Tulalip Tribal police continue to investigate the death of an infant who was rushed to the hospital late last month.
Police were summoned to a house on the Tulalip Indian Reservation in early April for the report of an unconscious child. The 6-month-old's mom was performing CPR on the infant when police arrived.
The boy, who was born Oct. 2, was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He was later transferred to Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center, where he was put on life support.
The boy never regained consciousness. He was taken off life support and died April 23, Tulalip Tribal Police Chief Scott Smith said.
The King County medical examiner on Monday was doing additional tests to determine how the infant died.
Police don't believe the boy died of natural causes, Smith said. The preliminary results from the autopsy have led detectives to continue their investigation, he said.
No one has been arrested in connection with the boy's death.
Detectives have interviewed numerous people and plan to continue with more interviews, he said. The FBI is assisting in the investigation.
"This is a top priority for us," Smith said. "We obviously have other investigations but for my detectives this takes precedence."
