Airbus leads Boeing in jet orders, deliveries
Herald staff
EVERETT — The Boeing Co. trails rival Airbus in both commercial jet orders and aircraft deliveries at the end of April.
Airbus, which has lost the sales title to Boeing the past two years, has received 397 net orders during the initial four months of 2008. The European jetmaker has won 432 total orders this year but has seen cancellations for 35 airplanes. Boeing lists 346 net airplane orders as of April 29.
The Chicago-based Boeing also finds itself outpaced by Airbus in terms of jet deliveries so far this year. Airbus has handed over 162 aircraft to Boeing’s 155.
Sales and deliveries of single-aisle jets continue to take the top spot for both Airbus and Boeing. Airbus’s A320 family of narrow body aircraft have picked up 290 net orders. Boeing’s Renton-built 737s have won 235.
Boeing leads in net orders of widebody jets with 111, compared to Airbus’s 107.
