Man found slain in Everett house

EVERETT -- Everett detectives arrested an Everett man in connection with the killing of a man whose body was found Wednesday in a boarding house on Lombard Avenue.

Someone called 911 just after 4 p.m. and told a dispatcher there was a man's body inside one of the apartments in the house, Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said. The large, three story-house is in the 3100 block of Lombard Avenue. Police also received an anonymous tip, Goetz said.

Officers found a man inside the house who appeared to have been dead for at least two hours, Goetz said. It appears he died as a result of some type of homicidal violence, Goetz said.

Police were given the name of the man suspected in the slaying and were able to obtain his picture. Investigators spotted him walking in the area shortly after the body was found and took him into custody, Goetz said.

Detectives interviewed the man, 31, and arrested him a short time later for investigation of second-degree murder, Goetz said.

Police declined to provide any details about what the man told them during questioning. Investigators also declined to say if the suspect and victim knew each other or if either of them lived in one of the apartments in the house.

The victim's name and age were not released Wednesday, pending further investigation by the Snohomish County medical examiner.

Police didn't anticipate any additional arrests in the slaying on Wednesday.

"I'm fairly confident the public is not in danger," Goetz said.

Neighbors said people often move in and out of the boarding house and police are called there frequently.

"It's a bit freaky," said Roshael Thomsen, a chiropractic assistant who works next door to the boarding house. "I was wondering what was going on, but I would have never have thought murder."

Detectives spent the evening collecting evidence.
