PREP TRACK: Jackson's Ponce wins 3,200 title at Wesco South meet

EDMONDS -- Jackson's Alison Ponce won the girls 3,200-meter run Wednesday in the Wesco South track championships at Edmonds District Stadium.

Ponce won with a time of 11 minutes and 30.4 seconds, 17 seconds better than the second place finisher. Ponce was one of three Jackson athletes to win individual titles in the first day of the two-day meet.

Jackson's Dan Truong won the boys' long jump (19.3 feet) and the Timberwolves' Alyssa Pratt won the girls' pole vault (nine feet).

Mountlake Terrace's Jenna Donohue and Caitlin Hovick finished first in the long jump and javelin respectively. Donohue jumped 16 feet 9.5 inches and Hovick had a throw of 125.07 feet.

Marek Domanski of Shorecrest won the boys shot put with a throw of 45.4 feet and teammate Kelsey Paden won the girls with a throw of 114.9 feet. Roger Milan of Mariner had an impressive time of 15.98 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles, the best time in the preliminaries of his event.

Mariner's Malcolm Tatum won the wheelchair shot put with a throw of 14.8 feet.

Cascade Conference meet: At Duvall, South Whidbey's Cayla Calderwood won the girls triple jump and the girls high jump. In the boys competition, Kyle King of Coupeville won the 1,600 meter run with a time of 4:22.73, and King's high school won both the long jump and the discus.
