Shorewood scores late goal to take district soccer championship from Snohomish

SHORELINE -- Shorewood forward Safaa Al-Jelaihawi scored the game-winning goal in the last two minutes to give the Thunderbirds a 2-1 victory over Snohomish in the 4A District 1 championship game Thursday at Shoreline Stadium.

Sam Olson, who scored Shorewood's first goal, assisted on Al-Jelaihawi's tally.

Shorewood advances to next week's state tournament as the district's top seed and will host a first-round game. Snohomish will be the second seed and will travel in the first round.
