Weekend reading: Ben Gibbard of Death Cab, the Roots and Neil Diamond

In case you haven’t heard, there’s this group called Death Cab for Cutie, and they have a new album coming out on Tuesday.
Singer Ben Gibbard wrote about the record for Paste Magazine. He occassionally grows a bit defiant as he recounts the band's lean years, saying he feels Death Cab’s first record is by no means their best.
Anyway, here’s a look at that and other recent articles.
Apparently, these days, when Ben Gibbard invites friends out for a drink, they tell him they can’t go, because they don’t want to be stuck in “perpetual adolescence forever.” Total drag, right? But for serious, Gibbard wrote a nice litte essay for Paste Magazine about "Narrow Stairs."
Paste also did a Q&A with Neil Diamond. Some of the leftovers went online, including a nice little bit about his participation in “The Last Waltz,” often called the greatest rock movie ever made.
Aimee Mann tells Newsweek having loads of money enables you to slowly kill yourself.
The Roots aren’t only concerned about the future of the world. They tell the New York Times they’re also a bit worried about their own future. (Incidentally, you may have to register with NYTimes.com to access the article.
