Herald Athletes of the Week

Baseball Mountlake Terrace's Ryan Sells had game-ending, run-scoring hits in victories over Shorewood and Marysville-Pilchuck during the 4A District 1 tourney. His two-run home run capped Terrace's 13-3 win over M-P in the championship game.

Girls tennis Arlington's Ivana Krommelova defeated Alena Owen of Shorecrest 6-0, 6-0 Friday in the singles final at the Wesco 3A meet. Krommelova, who is undefeated this season, lost only one game in three matches last week.



Softball Lakewood pitcher Kally Behen didn't allow a hit or a run and tallied 16 strikeouts in a combined eight innings in victories over Coupeville and Meridian. Behen also went 5-for-7 at the plate in the two games.



Girls golf Seo Hee Moon of Kamiak tallied 142 Stableford points during two 18-hole rounds, including a 75-point performance Tuesday at Walter Hall Golf Course. She helped Kamiak win the Wesco South title.



Boys soccer Goalkeeper Peter Karrenberg had two shutouts for Lakewood, which beat previously undefeated Cedarcrest 1-0 Saturday in the 2A District 1 title game. Karrenberg made eight saves against Cedarcrest.



Boys golf Shorecrest's Jens Bracht shot a 5-under-par 67 Thursday in the Wesco South meet at Walter Hall Golf Course. He also fired a 2-under 70 on May 6 at Harbour Pointe Golf Course.





Boys track Lakewood's Devon Smith set school records while winning the 200- and 400-meter dashes (22.84 seconds and 49.16 seconds) Friday at the Cascade Conference Championships. Smith also anchored Lakewood's first-place 1,600 relay.

Girls track Edmonds-Woodway sprinter Katie Tougas set a school record in winning the 200-meter dash (26.36 seconds) Friday at the Wesco South Championships. In addition, Tougas ran the opening legs of two first-place relays (400 and 800).
