Heath, Munn and Madonia win sprint mains at Skagit Speedway

ALGER, Wash. — Colton Heath, Alan Munn and Devin Madonia were sprint car division winners in round 3 of the Foothills Toyota Tundra Series on Saturday at Skagit Speedway.

Heath took the lead on lap 5 of the Outlaw 410 sprint main, passing Jared Ridge on the low groove coming off a strong run through turn 2 of the three-tenths mile clay oval.

Ridge pressured Heath for the next 14 laps but brought out a caution when he dropped out with a mechanical failure.

That set up a six-lap dash between Heath and former 410 champion Barry Martinez — a battle Heath won along with $2,000.

Martinez was second, Josh Dewitt finished third, Aaron Fell was fourth and Steve Kilcup rounded out the top five. Heat races went to Eric Fisher and Nick Engberg. Fisher was fast time.

Munn punctuated his 2008 return to Skagit Speedway by scoring his first win at the track since 2005 in the 360 sprint main. Munn led all 25 laps and held off a strong late-race challenge from Michael Harris. Mike Sather, Rod Perkins and Brian Kirkpatrick rounded out the top five. Heat race wins went to Harris and Kirkpatrick. Sather set quick time.

Madonia recorded his first win in the sportsman sprint division. He held off rookie Kyle Oman and two-time winner Kelsey Carpenter during the 20-lap main.

Oman finished second, Carpenter was third, and Devin Barnes and Steve James rounded out the top five. Carpenter and Oman won the heat races.

The outlaw hornets ran dual main events to make up for the missed main last week. Two first-time winners took home honors this week as Karl Dahl won the first main and Tyler Ketchum got his first career main victory in the second.

Industrial Resources Inc. presents the John Carroll Classic next week at Skagit Speedway. All four classes will be in action. Racing begins at 7 p.m. For ticket information on the Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup and more, go to www.skagitspeedway.com.
