Police arrest man in Everett after assault, carjacking and pursuit

EVERETT – Police said they arrested a man this morning after he allegedly assaulted a person at an adult-assisted living center then tried to flee police in a stolen BMW.

The man was caught after someone called 911 to report a suspicious person in their yard, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.

No one was seriously injured.

The incident began around 7 a.m. when the suspect walked into an adult-assisted living home near the intersection of 112th Street W. and 4th Avenue SE, Hover said. The man allegedly hit someone and then left.

Police believe the attack was random and they can’t determine an explanation for the man’s behavior, she said.

The man then walked across the street to a convenience store parking lot. He allegedly asked a woman to help him jump start his car, Hover said. He then pushed the woman, took her keys and drove off in her silver BMW.

There was a short police pursuit that ended where 100th Street SE dead ends, Hover said. Police from several neighboring departments helped sheriff’s deputies look for the man.

The man was arrested around 9:30 a.m. in the 9600 block of Lowell-Larimer Road. He was expected to be booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of multiple crimes.
