Lake Stevens native Scott Wiebe has been named director of outreach initiatives for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. In his new role, Wiebe will provide resources and educational materials to MDA field staff to assist them in helping individuals and families served by MDA. Wiebe started with MDA in 2006 as a health-care service coordinator in Tacoma, and previously after served as an MDA summer camp volunteer for six years.

Tracy Banfield, Sam Samuelson and Donna Cappa have been named national sales managers for Tulalip Resort Casino's new hotel, spa and meeting and conference facility. The trio are responsible for all solicitation and maintenance of corporate, association and travel groups.

Banfield brings with her almost 16 years of tourism and sales experience in Snohomish County. She previously worked at the Snohomish County Tourism Bureau as group sales and media manager. She also worked as director of development for the Everett Area Chamber of Commerce, administrator for the Everett Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, and took on different roles during her five years at Holiday Inn Hotel and Conference Center in Everett.

Samuelson previously worked in hotel sales for more than five years, most recently as director of sales at the Quinault Beach Resort and Casino.

Cappa most recently ran her own travel agency in Perth, Australia.

Coastal Community Bank has named Sue Fure as assistant branch manager at its Camano Island branch. The bank also named Sharon Bucklin as a loan processor providing for its new Stanwood branch, set to open in June. Fure and Bucklin both previously worked at Whidbey Island Bank.

Jeffrey Decker, senior vice president and financial consultant in the Everett office of D.A. Davidson & Co., has completed the intensive course work required to earn the certified wealth strategist designation, established to help him exceed client expectations regarding wealth management advice. The designation, from the Cannon Financial Institute, is offered only to professionals who are considered leaders and who have been in the financial services industry for at least three years. Decker joined the firm in October 1999 with previous experience at Piper Jaffray and Dain Bosworth.

Ward Hampson of Classic Construction has earned a certificate for training on helping people age in place by making home modifications. The program was developed by the Remodelers County of the National Association of Home Builders.

Mark Manei, the chief operating office of The Everett Clinic, has earned board certification in health care management as a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He joined the clinic in 1989.

Workshops, seminars

Anna Bernstein, founder of The Brain-Voice Connection, presents an interactive workshop that demonstrates the power of voice and how to use it at Seattle Graphic Artists Guild's meeting, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Rock Salt Steaks and Seafood, 1232 Westlake Ave. N., in Seattle. Financing a Home, led by Pat Montgomery of Homesight, will be from noon to 1 p.m. June 26 at Workforce Development Council Snohomish County, 728 134th St. SW in Everett. The Seattle District Office of the U.S. Small Business Administration will offer a series of free workshops starting June 2. Jump Start Your Business is a week-long series designed to help start-up and existing small business owners improve their bottom lines. Topics include maximizing marketing dollars, the business plan process, understanding business tax or legal issues, and improving Web sites, among others. Diamond Veterinary Associates of Everett was honored for its 25-year commitment to excellence in small-animal care at the American Animal Hospital Association's annual conference in Tampa, Fla. Diamond Veterinary Associates, an association member since 1983, has undergone regular evaluations by the association's practice consultants, who visit hospitals to ensure compliance with the association's standards.

Five physical therapists of the Integrated Rehabilitation Group have become certified in the ASTYM System, a non-invasive treatment proven effective in soft-tissue dysfunction. Emily Day will offer the therapy at Everett Physical Therapy & Sports Performance Center; Dawn Bostic at Arlington Physical Therapy; Tony Dao at Edmonds Hand Therapy; Mark Boede at Murphy's Corner Physical Therapy; and Holly Gramse at Granite Falls Physical Therapy.

Fund adviser Paul Merriman and Glenn Crellin of the Washington State University real estate center will be the guests on "Getting Your Dough to Rise," the personal finance show on KSER-FM, 90.7, the local public radio station. The show airs Tuesday from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Chuck Noel is the host.
