Great American Backyard Campout

Jump-start summer by camping out in your own backyard on Saturday, June 28. You’ll be part of the fourth annual Great American Backyard Campout sponsored by the National Wildlife Foundation.

You can register your campsite online at www.backyardcampout.org, and also find campfire songs, games, crafts, packing and first-aid lists, safety and camping tips, recipes and night-watch ideas.

If you don’t have a backyard or want to venture further afield, you can find camping spots at www.reserveamerica.com/index. For campsites in Washington state parks, call 1-888-CAMPOUT (226-7688) or visit www.parks.wa.gov. Some county parks also allow camping, as do Olympic, Mount Rainier and North Cascades National Parks and the national forest system.
