Rutz, Lemley, Schutte win Skagit Speedway mains

ALGER, Wash. — Saturday’s Relay for Life night at Skagit Speedway was very successful, as fans helped raise $2,097.73.

In the Outlaw 410 Sprints, Travis Rutz drove through the field to his second win of the year in the Rudeen Racing No. 26.

Aaron Fell led the majority of the race in his Falcon Equipment No. 15, but Rutz methodically worked his way to the front, taking second place by lap 14. With only Fell in front of him, Rutz hooked his car up hard on the inside of turn one and powered past Fell on lap 18.

Fell hung on to second with Steve Kilcup in the Tri County Truss No. 18 taking third.

Jason Solwold was quick time in the Xtreme Oilfield Technologies No. 39c. Heat races were won by Jason Bloodgood in the Industrial Supply No. 38, Barry Martinez in the Artisan Homes No. 66 and Seth Bergman in the Corridor Electric No. 23.

Brock Lemley earned the victory in the Budwesier 360 Sprints, taking advantage of a late-race spinout that collected the leaders of the race.

Lemley, driving the Jansma Construction No. 4 had worked his way from 12th to third place by lap 22, when a Danielle Huson spinout in turn 4 collected leader Jason Sowold and second-place car of Mike Sather.

Driving the Northstar Fisheries No. 77, Sather led the first 12 laps before former World of Outlaws driver Solwold passed him.

Brian Kirkpatrick was second in the Jet City Rentals No. 5k; third place went to Cory Chamberlain, substituting for an injured Rod Perkins in the Classic Rock 92.9 No. 69; and Henry Van Dam came from starting 17th to finish fourth.

Shane Broers was quick time in the Shark Racing Engines No.11. Heat races went to Solwold and the Cavalli Construction No. 73 of Huson.
The Cook Road Shell Sportsman Sprint victory went to Marc Schutte for the first time in the Fastenal No. 72.

It took three tries to get the main started, with Bill Rude and Schutte on the front row. The first two times had Rude leading Schutte into the third corner before the yellow flew.

The third time, Schutte beat Rude into turn two and then held on the rest of the way for his first career main win. Second was Rude in the Zip Tune No. 33, third went to Paul Burdick in the National Reservation Bureau No. 9.

Heat wins went to Devin Madonia in the Snohomish Valley Roofing No. 42 and Steve James in the valley Cadillac No. 29.

Cory Swatzina led all 13 laps in his Carl's Towing No. 07 en route to victory in a time-shortened Wilson Auto Brokers Outlaw Hornets main. Ben Gunderson finished second and won the first heat race with Swatzina winning the second heat. Third place in the main went to Tom Warner.
