Kamiak High School names three head coaches

Kamiak High School has made several coaching changes for the 2008-09 school year. Here are the new head coaches and their predecessors, as announced today by Kamiak athletic director Jack Kniseley.

Boys basketball
The new head coach is Cory West. He served as Kamiak’s junior-varsity coach the past six seasons. West replaces Greg Turcott, who last month accepted the head-coaching job at Archbishop Murphy High School.

Wrestling
The new head coach is Doug Baer, a former Kamiak volunteer varsity assistant who also coaches at the middle-school level. Baer steps in for Dan Hanika, who coached Kamiak for 15 years. This past season Hanika guided the Knights to the Western Conference South Division regular-season dual-meet championship.

Volleyball
The new head coach is Natalie Bowie, previously a Kamiak assistant. Bowie replaces Debra Crawford, who coached the Knights for 15 years. In her final season Crawford guided Kamiak to fourth place at the 2008 Class 4A state tournament.
