In the end, he decided he'd rather play close to home. Wolfe, a key contributor on Snohomish High School's state-championship baseball team this spring, verbally committed June 11 to play for the University of Washington. The 6-foot-3, 185-pounder played several positions (outfield, first base and pitcher) during his junior season for Snohomish, which won the Class 4A state title May 24 at Safeco Field. Wolfe, who throws and hits left-handed, said he'll probably play outfield for the Huskies. Wolfe said he considered opportunities at other Pac-10 Conference programs, including Oregon State University, Washington State University, and the University of Oregon. But he said he wants family to be able to watch him play. "Everything felt right about (Washington) and I've grown up a Husky (fan) my whole life," said Wolfe, who this fall can sign a binding NCAA National Letter of Intent. An All-Wesco North Second Team honoree at pitcher and first base, Wolfe is ranked No. 6 among Washington Class of 2009 players according to Baseball Northwest. He plays for the Seattle Stars select team.
