Norhtwest Sprint Challenge Series staff to be honored at Dirt Cup

ALGER, Wash. — An extra piece of hardware will be handed out on the final night of the 37th Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup at Skagit Speedway.

National Sprint Car Hall Of Fame Marketing Director Craig Agan will present the the 360 Promoter of the Year award for 2007 to the Wilskey family of the Northwest Sprint Challenge Series (NSCS) on Saturday in Alger.

The North American 360 Sprint Car Poll is an annual awards program of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum Foundation, Inc., of Knoxville, Iowa. The North American 360 Sprint Car Poll voting panel is comprised of media members, promoters, sanctioning officials and manufacturers.

The announcement came in December from the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame, and due to a tie in the voting, Glenn Styres of the Ohsweken Speedway in Ontario, Canada, and The Wilskey Family of the Northwest Sprint Challenge Series (NSCS) will share the 360 Promoter of the Year honors for 2007.

“The credit for this award really belongs to the entire NSCS, the competitors, the promoters and most importantly the fans,” Dick Wilskey said in a press release. “Without all of them there wouldn’t have been a NSCS.”

NSCS team members included Shawna Wilskey, Dick Wilskey, Jan Wilskey, Rick Terry, Sandi Terry, Larry McNulty, Cheryl McNulty, Jake Francis, Dawn L Morrison, Howard Beck, Tammy Walker, Rick Haskell, Liz Haskell, Fred Rannard and Andrew Kunas.

The award recognizes the hard work that went into assembling the series. New rules were written, a team assembled, logos designed, souvenirs and souvenir trailers designed and procured, contracts revised and negotiated, insurance procured, vehicles bought, websites designed and sponsors sought.

The series had 21 dates scheduled at: Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash.; Gray’s Harbor Raceway in Elma, Wash.; Yakima Raceway in Yakima, Wash.; Cottage Grove Speedway in Cottage Grove, Ore.; Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, Ore.; and Southern Oregon Speedway in Medford, Ore.
