No draft joy for remaining Tips

Posted at 12:03 pm by Nick Patterson

Everett had no players selected in today's second day of the NHL draft.

A handful of Tips -- forwards Matt Ius and Jordan Mistelbacher, goaltender Shayne Barrie -- had outside shots at being taken in the later rounds, but did not hear their names called. That left forward Kyle Beach, taken 11th overall in Friday's first round by the Chicago Blackhawks, as the only Tip selected this year.

That's tough luck for those guys, but it doesn't mean their NHL dreams are dashed. I wouldn't be surprised if at least one of those guys catches some NHL attention next season. If I had to bet on one, my money would be on Ius showing the scouts something next season.

There was one Everett list player taken today. Defenseman Max Nicastro, who plays for the USHL's Chicago Steel, was taken with the final pick of the third round by the Detroit Red Wings. However, Nicastro has committed to Boston University and has given no indication he has any interest in playing for Everett.
