U.S. 2 crash sends 6 to hospital

SKYKOMISH – Six people were taken to the hospital after a head-on crash Sunday afternoon a mile west of Skykomish on U.S. 2.

Just after 3 p.m., a minivan that was headed eastbound drifted off the road and hit a pickup truck, according to the Washington State Patrol. The minivan also hit boulders along the road side. The pickup truck hit the guardrail.

All six people in the minivan, ages 5 to 75, were taken to Valley General hospital. The pickup truck driver, 37, wasn’t injured, the patrol said.

A medical problem apparently caused the accident, according to the patrol.

Traffic in the area was slowed as police investigated.
