New Camano Island burglaries stir speculation that boy burglar is back

CAMANO ISLAND – Several reported burglaries on the south part of Camano Island have some residents worried that Colton Harris-Moore, the notorious teenage serial burglar, may have come home.

Harris-Moore, 17, escaped from a Renton group home on April 30. There's been no sign of the teenager since his escape.

Deputies have feared Harris-Moore might come back to his familiar territory on Camano Island and continue his spree of breaking into vacation homes.
Island County Sheriff Mark Brown said Tuesday it’s not clear who is responsible for the most recent break-ins.

“We have some information that may or may not relate to Colton,” he said. “We’re looking at all the possibilities.”

Additional deputies have been assigned to patrol the island, Brown said.

Harris-Moore is described as approximately 6-feet, 5-inches tall and weighs more than 200 pounds. Anyone who sees the boy or suspicious activity is asked to call 911.
