Soon, Mountlake Terrace might not be the place to get it.
The city is considering the ban of all bottled water sales in parks and public buildings. Herald reporter Scott Peszenecker covered this story. Read it here.
The idea is one of a host of measures designed to “green” the city. A draft of the proposed ordinances will be considered on August 4.
Among the other proposals:
No more long-term idling of city-owned cars.
Phasing in hybrid or fuel-efficient vehicles into the city’s fleet.
Creating environmentally-friendly building codes.
Allowing more park space.
The city is already setting a good example. It’s building a new city hall that is expected, with geothermal heating and a grass-covered roof, to be among the greenest public buildings in the county.
