People Watching - July 2008

Shannon Affholter has joined Moss Adams as a senior manager in the Wealth Services Group, focusing on business succession planning. He recently was elected to his first term on the Everett City Council and also has served on the Everett Parks Board. Affholter previously worked for Merck and Co., where he was involved in primary care for eight years.

Eric McCarthy of Roy Robinson Subaru recently competed in a regional program focused on the 2009 Forester and was selected to make an in-depth presentation and demonstration of the product.

Alisa Parks recently joined Sparling’s marketing department as a marketing specialist. Parks is a marketing professional with more than 10 years of experience in the A/E/C industry locally. She is a former board member for the Society of Marketing Professional Services, a graduate of Dale Carnegie and a member of Toastmasters. Parks earned her bachelor’s degree in social sciences at Western Oregon University.

Melodee Morris has been promoted to business development representative at 1st Security Bank of Washington. Morris has been with the bank for more than 13 years and most recently was manager of the client service department. She is now responsible for building relationships with local companies and their employees.

Jennifer Hansen has been named business development manager at Pacific Crest Savings Bank. Hansen’s responsibilities include business banking product development and relationship management. She previously served as a branch manager for eight years at BECU.



Administrative Services Director Dan Clements and Development Services Director Duane Bowman recently announced their plans to retire from the city of Edmonds. Clements will leave his position in early July. He has served in the capacity of administrative services director since August 2003 and is responsible for monitoring the city’s finances. Bowman has been with the city for 19 years and has served as development services director since September 2000. He plans to retire on Jan. 31, 2009. His responsibilities include overseeing the planning and building divisions, and previously included the engineering division until recent restructuring of the department.



Margaret Riddle, a longtime historian in the Everett Public Library’s Northwest Room, recently retired after 31 years of service to the city of Everett. Upon retirement, Riddle will continue to write for HistoryLink.org., an online source for Washington state history, and is interested in serving the community as a volunteer.

Sarah Love has joined the Women’s Wellness Center as a blue-belt instructor in Nia technique, a combination of multiple dance, martial and healing arts, including yoga. Love is a graduate of Western Washington University and began her Nia training in Portland under the instruction of Nia co-creators. The center is located at 2817 Rockefeller Ave. in Everett.



Mark Mantei, chief operating officer of The Everett Clinic, has earned board certification in health-care management as an American College of Healthcare Executives Fellow. Mantei joined The Everett Clinic in 1989. He holds two degrees from the University of Michigan: a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in health services administration.



Jeanine Vhan has joined the law firm of O’Loane Nunn Law Group PLLC, formerly O’Loane Nunn & Guthrie PLLC, in Everett. Vhan has seven years of experience specializing in family and collaborative law.

Anna Goykhman has opened her law practice at 1604 Hewitt Ave., Suite 301, in the Bank of America building in Everett. Goykhman specializes in criminal defense of felonies, misdemeanors and DUIs, as well as personal injury cases. She previously served in the law office of Mark Mestel.



Malissia Bishop has joined Express Employment Professionals in Everett as a business developer. She has a varied professional background that includes being a business owner.



Coastal Community Bank’s new Loan Center, opening this June in Stanwood, is pleased to announce that Sharon Bucklin will be a loan processor providing support to the commercial and real estate loan officers and customers serving north Snohomish and Skagit counties. She lives on Camano Island and comes to Coastal Community Bank from Whidbey Island Bank where she worked for the past seven years.



Dean M. Johnson of Dean’s Professional Photography in Everett has been honored with the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) National Award for outstanding service to professional photography. This is the highest award presented to a professional photographer and marks the 50th anniversary for the bronze and walnut plaque. The award was presented by the Professional Photographers of Washington, a PPA-Affiliated Association, at their annual conference in Wenatchee.

The award recognizes members who generously contribute their time and talents to the service of their profession, their affiliated organization, and their fellow photographers. Selections of the award are determined by the recipient’s peers, adding to its distinction and value. PPA is the oldest and largest nonprofit association for professional photographers in the world, with headquarters in Atlanta, Ga.
