Tulalip Home Depot to be rededicated
TULALIP -- The Home Depot in Quil Ceda Village that first opened in 2001 will be rededicated Saturday in an effort to reconnect to the tribal community it serves.
The day will feature American Indian hoop dancing and signing, barbecued food and a job recruitment table to attract a work force that reflects the region.
The store wants to do as much as it can to recognize the Tulalip Tribes, and welcome diversity both in its customer base and employees, said Karyn Zigler, who works for the store's human resources department.
"We've made a commitment to honor this community," she said.
The event will begin at 10 a.m. in The Home Depot parking lot and last until 2 p.m.
The Home Depot, along with a Wal-Mart, was among the first businesses in Quil Ceda Village, the retail and casino complex owned by the Tulalip Tribes. It is now home to Seattle Premium Outlets and a luxury hotel, as well as the Tulalip Casino.
