U.S. 2 ramp to I-5 to close for work
U.S. 2 ramps to southbound I-5 and California Avenue are set to be closed this weekend as crews break down the old ramps and build the new surface, according to the state Department of Transportation.
Crews plan to shut down the ramps from 8:30 tonight to 5 a.m. Monday. Drivers heading toward southbound I-5 from the U.S. 2 trestle will have to get onto northbound I-5, exit at Marine View Drive and take the onramp to southbound I-5.
The work is part of the state's I-5 widening project through Everett. The $263 million project, the third-most- expensive highway project in state's history, is set to wrap up this summer.
The state already finished widening the freeway with new carpool lanes to improve traffic flow along the freeway.
