EVERETT

Many citizens embrace city's past

In response to the June 12 letter, "City must grow to get beyond past": It is too bad the writer does not understand or care about the history of Everett. If he did, maybe he would understand that this great city was born and raised as a milltown. Most of the people, excluding the ones who moved in and ruined the area, understand what built this town into what it is today.

Just so the writer understands, we who grew up here -- and there are many of us left whose parents worked at the mills and raised children who know how to work -- like this city just the way it is.

So the gist of the story: Why doesn't the writer just pick up and move to Bellevue?
