An easier way to water?

On a recent sunny day, I went outside to water my garden. Watering the gardening leaves me plenty of time for thinking -- not always a good thing. After a little thinking, I realized I had an old soaker hose in my garage. Wouldn't it be great to just get that out and save myself some time?

Thus began the wrestling match. An hour later, I finally had it in place, but it wasn't pretty. I had stepped on some of my tiny lettuce, squished several strawberries, and the hose still was trying to move. It was like trying to tame a giant, black, stubborn snake.

Once I was done with the struggle to save some time, I realized there is probably an easier way. Right?
