Arrest made in early morning shooting death

EVERETT – Snohomish County sheriff’s detectives have arrested one man in connection with the shooting death of another man early this morning.

Detectives believe three men were in a car just before 2 a.m. when gunfire erupted, sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.

The driver, believed to be in his 20s, was fatally shot, she said. The car had crashed into a fence when deputies arrived on scene.

A passenger, also believed to be in his 20s, was questioned by detectives and later arrested. He is expected to be booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of first-degree murder.

“Detectives are trying to determine what happened in the vehicle and the motivation behind the shooting,” Hover said.

Investigators have been speaking with the other man. All three knew each other. The names and hometowns of those involved were not immediately available.

Admiralty Way was closed near the shooting scene as police collected evidence.
