Commercial flights at Paine Field would be boon for Everett

EVERETT – Commercial air service at Paine Field would encourage high tech businesses to move to Everett and noise problems from air service would be minimal and could be remedied, according to a new report prepared for the Everett City Council.

If any problems could be offset, the city should support commercial air service at the Snohomish County-owned Paine Field, according to the report by Thomas/Lane & Associates of Seattle.

The executive summary of the $70,000 report was released at the Everett City Council meeting.

“Looking into the future, scheduled commercial air service at Paine Field will help shift Everett’s economy away from its historical blue collar base and move it toward becoming a new economy type city,” according to the report.

The City Council is expected to review the full report at its meeting July 30.
