Local Briefly: Arlington fire damages three apartments

ARLINGTON -- Nobody was injured by an early-morning fire that damaged three apartments in Arlington on Tuesday.

A young man who was driving by spotted the fire about 1:15 a.m. in the 200 block of Jackson Street. He alerted the people who lived there.

Within five minutes, everyone was safely outside and firefighters were on the scene, Arlington fire officials said.

Firefighters from Arlington and Marysville and Snohomish County fire districts 21 and 19 battled the blaze until 3:12 a.m., when they were able to get the fire under control.

One unit was significantly damaged, and two units sustained smoke damage, fire officials said.

The Snohomish County Chapter of the American Red Cross provided temporary lodging, food and clothing to the families affected by the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Snohomish: Body found in river

A body was found along the banks of the Snohomish River on Tuesday afternoon.

The body of a white, adult man was found about 3 p.m. beside a boat ramp, just off the Riverfront Trail in Snohomish. People using Cady Park, 40 Maple Ave., discovered the body.

As of late Tuesday afternoon, the man had not been identified, according to Rebecca Hover, spokeswoman for the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office. "There were no obvious signs of injury to the man and no recent reports of missing people we're aware of at this time that fit this case," she said.

Snohomish police requested the assistance of the Snohomish County sheriff's detectives, Hover said.

Everett: House fire quickly extinguished

A fire caused around $15,000 worth of damage to a south Everett home Tuesday.

Firefighters responded the blaze about 4:45 p.m. and quickly extinguished the flames, said Leslie Hynes, a spokeswoman for Snohomish County Fire District 1.

No one was home when the fire broke out. Most of the damage was on the porch, the attic and the roof.

The fire won't prevent the homeowners from living in their house, Hynes said.

The home is in the 9900 block of 28th Drive SE, north of Silver Lake.
