Hungry for a little bat 'n' cheese

When villagers in Thailand crave a little comfort food, they cook up a pan of bat meat. Aside from being quite toothsome, they say, the meat increases libido and stamina. If Batman had known that, it might have improved his chances of having a romantic relationship that lasted longer than one movie.

Speaking of bats: The Mariners remembered how to use theirs, defeating Cleveland 8-2 on Friday. You'll know the team has turned a corner if a future Mariners home run conks you in the head hard enough to make you forget the first half of the season.

Awwww: The itty-bitty Smart car is becoming a big hit with U.S. drivers. This is due partly to high fuel prices but mostly because it's so cute you just want to pinch its little cheeks and ask it if it's mommy's wittle princess.

One test-driver says that despite its cuteness, the car isn't always the most enjoyable ride. On the plus side, though, if the Smart breaks down, you won't need a call a tow truck. Just flag down the nearest SUV and ask to put it in the back.
