MILL CREEK -- Tino Peleti knocked in five runs with a double and a home run on Friday as Bainbridge Island defeated West Seattle 13-2 in the opening game of the Washington State Little League Majors Baseball Tournament in Mill Creek.
Bainbridge jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the top of the first -- three runs scoring on Peleti's double -- and the game was never close after that. Bainbridge right-hander Ben Kussie pitched the complete five-inning game for the victory. Kussie did not yield a run until the final inning when West Seattle's Andrew Crunican lined a fastball over the left-centerfield fence for a two-run homer to give West Seattle its only runs of the game.
Each team earned its berth in the State Tournament by winning its district tournament. Bainbridge Island is the Division 2 champion, and West Seattle represents Division 7.
