Bart posse is broke, Larsen is raking in the money

It’s tough enough to unseat an incumbent member of Congress with a bundle of cash. It’s even tougher if you have none at all.

No money is exactly what Republican congressional candidate Rick Bart reported having July 1. Moreover he had debts totaling $735.Bart, the former Snohomish County sheriff, reported raising $31,456 between Jan. 1 and June 30 in his disclosure form filed with the Federal Elections Commission. He spent every dime as this “cash summary” shows on his report

U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen, D-Wash., is not having any trouble raising money as he took in $226,700 in contributions in the same three-month period. He’s now raised $1,041,996 for this election cycle and began July with $614,532.

He’s not stopped fundraising. He’s got an event July 28 in Snohomish.

In this race, the person with the most cash, after Larsen, is a guy who isn’t running. Republican Doug Roulstone launched a campaign then pulled out in January. He still has nearly $30,000 in cash on hand.
