Paine Field fight soars with new e-mail

Posted at 6:59 pm by Jerry Cornfield

Consultant Ron Dotzauer launched his first salvo today to help Mukilteo keep commercial passenger flights out of Paine Field.

An e-mail sent to an untold number of residents blasted the prospective carrier, Allegiant Air, as “not right for our community.”

It begins:

Who is trying to use Paine Field for commercial purposes? Is this someone we want Snohomish County to do business with?

Don’t let Allegiant Airlines exploit Everett and South Snohomish County the way they do other communities!

Above the words "No Exploitation Zone" is a drawing of an airplane and the international symbol for "no."
The e-mail excerpts headlines of newspaper articles about the company’s decision to end service on routes around the country.

Time and again, Allegiant Airlines deserts small communities after short notice and short stays.

Last week, Mukilteo inked a nearly $100,000 contract with Dotzauer's firm, Strategies 360.

That deal came as a new study produced for Everett found more positives than negatives for the city if commercial service started at Paine Field.

Paine Field adds to quality of life in Everett
One thing that I missed moving up here is being able to book and jump on a commercial flight (including packing time and car rental booking) less than one hour prior to it taking off.

Everett making it's own metro area is beneficial. An airport is a good start. Creating a walkable area of town would be awesome...make part of town cool.
