Concerts: Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, Goldfrapp, Jamie Lidell

Posted at 10:01 am

Oddly, Alison Krauss and Robert Plant just were shortlisted for the 2008 Mercury Music Prize, a prestigious award given out in the British Isles, for their collaboration on “Raising Sand”.

Why odd? Well, because Krauss and the album’s producer, T Bone Burnett, are straight out of America’s Heartland, while the award is meant to champion UK groups. Oh sure, Plant’s as British as they come, but still, the album wasn’t even recorded overseas.

And it's, y'know, an Americana record.

Whatever the case, there’s presale information below for the duo’s upcoming performance at the WaMu Theatre on Oct. 1, along with presale info for Jamie Lidell, Goldfrapp and more.

As usual, the ticket costs don’t include service fees, and if you know of another good show, by all means, toss it in the comments section.

  • Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, at the WaMu Theatre, Seattle, presale from 10 a.m. Thursday to 10 p.m. Friday, $45 to $135. Password is “krauss.” Tickets for the Oct. 1 show on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Saturday.

  • Goldfrapp, at the Showbox SoDo, Seattle, presale from 10 a.m. today to 10 p.m. Thursday, $22.50. Password is “showbox.” Tickets for the Sept. 17 show on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday.

  • Jamie Lidell, at the Showbox at the Market, Seattle, presale from 10 a.m. Thursday to 10 p.m. Friday, $18. Password is “showbox.” Tickets for the Oct. 3 show on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Saturday.

  • Also going on sale:

  • Joan Osborne, at the Triple Door, Seattle. Tickets for the Oct. 13 show on sale to the general public at noon Friday for $25.

    Robert Plant and Alison Krauss,
    Talk about an odd combination!

Who would have thought these two could have created such a rage in the music world.
