Videos: Rihanna, Gnarls Barkley, Chemical Brothers

Posted at 11:41 am

If there's a theme to this week's videos, it's oddity.

The Chemical Brothers toss out a very cool video starring a goblin, Rihanna gets spooky to ill effect, and Gnarls Barkley deliver a memorable but violent clip.

Anyway. Enjoy:

The Chemical Brothers - "Midnight Madness" - Video

I'm no huge Chemical Brothers fan, but it's hard not to love this video, which ties into the release of a "best of." It's unexpectedly funny - I mean, it features a dude in a goblin mask and shiny gold suit doing Cirque du Soleil moves. But it also blends CGI and straight-up agility almost seamlessly. Dig it.

Rihanna - "Disturbia" - Video

The folks over at Idolator.com mentioned this resembles the R-rated Nine Inch Nails video for Closer, and I won't disagree. From the washed out colors to the "twisted" imagery it ends up looking like a PG-13 version of Trent Reznor by way of Madonna. Which isn't really a good thing. Sigh.

Gnarls Barkley - "Whose Gonna Save My Soul" - Video

This clip is not for the faint of heart. It has a fairly bloody component to it, so steer clear if you're easily put off by that kind of thing. Still, it's a very interesting clip, with Gnarls Barkley's downtrodden song acting more as a soundtrack, with the two characters regularly speaking over the song. Trippy and weird, though.
