Everett lost its fourth straight Northwest League game to the Hawks on Wednesday night and did so in ugly fashion, falling 16-5. Boise roughed up six Everett pitchers for 17 hits and, if that wasn't enough, the Sox chipped in by committing five errors. As a result, eight of the 16 runs were unearned. Kyler Burke led the way for Boise, going 4-for-5. Michael Brenly and Ryan Sontag each drove in three runs for the Hawks (23-13), who go for the series sweep tonight. Ben Billingsley smacked a pair of doubles and Manelik Pimentel drove in two runs to pace Everett (15-21), which despite the loss remained just two games behind Salem-Keizer for first place in the West Division. Salem-Keizer lost to Spokane 3-2. Everett actually started the game well, scoring twice in the top of the first inning on Luis Nunez's RBI fielder's choice and Pimentel's RBI single. However, the Hawks responded with nine runs in the following three innings to take control. When the Sox threatened to make it a game by scoring three in the fifth, an awful sixth inning resulted in a seven-run rally that killed off Everett's hopes. The first Everett victim was starting pitcher Kenn Kasparek. Kasparek, who didn't give up a run in his first two starts for the Sox, had a short night. He struggled with his control and lasted just two innings, giving up three runs. And it only got worse from there for the Sox. Kasparek's replacement, Eddy Fernandez, got one out in the third, then gave up five runs on five consecutive hits as the Hawks pulled away. After Everett cut into the lead in the fifth, Boise put the game away in the sixth. Aided by three errors, the first nine Boise batters reached base against relievers Christian Staehely and Phil Hann and the first seven batters scored as the Hawks turned it into a rout.
