Fearless predictions: Indy and Evergreen

Posted at 12:01 am by Scott Whitmore

The utterly obvious ...

Big, big weekend.

Lots of racing.

Let's get to it.

Washington 500

With this being just the second time on the big five-eighths mile oval for the Bombers, I'm not sure any driver has an edge, but I'm thinking either Lane Sundholm or Jill Lang. Let's go with the defending champ.

Evergreen Speedway Super Stocks: There will most likely be one or two "ringers" in this race, like Jason Fraser. Still, I like Naima Lang to get back on victory stage.

ASA Northwest Tour: Hard to pass up on picking Gary Lewis to win his fifth straight race, although this should be a fun one to watch. Lots of cars, lots of drivers who can win it.

Camping World Series West: Call me a "homer" all you want, but I'm looking for Jeff Barkshire of Auburn, Wash., to get his first win in the series.

NASCAR

Sprint Cup Allstate 400 at the Brickyard: I'm locked in on this, so here's hoping Dale Earnhardt Jr. gets me into the top 10 in the Race to the Chase Media Challenge.

Nationwide Kroger 200: With NASCAR having tamped down on Toyota's power, going with a Joe Gibbs Racing car is no longer a high-percentage pick. I'm thinking one driver who really seems ready for another win is Brad Keselowski.

Craftsman Trucks Power Stroke Diesel 200: AT a track like ORP I like a wily veteran driver like Ron Hornaday Jr.

INDY RACING LEAGUE

Grand Prix of Edmonton: Street course. Former Champ Car race, so this is the first visit for the IndyCar regulars. Smart money is on a former Champster, right? Okay then. Let's say Paul Tracy shows everyone why he should be given a full-time ride in IndyCar.
