NHL NOTEBOOK

BRUINS: Boston swapped forwards with the Chicago Blackhawks, getting Martin St. Pierre in exchange for Pascal Pelletier. St. Pierre played five games with the Blackhawks last season and spent the most time with Chicago's AHL affiliate Rockford. He led the team in scoring, finishing with 21 goals and 67 assists in 69 games. Pelletier played in six games last season with Boston. He scored 71 goals in 206 regular season games with Providence of the AHL between 2005-08.

SABRES: Journeyman minor league left winger Mathieu Darche signed a one-year, $575,000 contract with Buffalo. Darche, 31, was an unrestricted free agent, who had a career-high 22 points (seven goals, 15 assists) in 73 games with Tampa Bay last season. He has spent most of his career in the American Hockey League since breaking into the NHL as an undrafted free agent with Columbus in 2000. Darche also played for Nashville and San Jose.
