Gear up with a roomy tent
Big tent for your party: OK, all you SUV owners. Big families. Large-group campers and platoon leaders.
Has MSR got a tent for you: It's the Board Room ($799, plus accessories: floor, $79; screening room, $249).
The Board Room is a 96-square-foot abode in which you could call a meeting, play Twister and have guests for the night. MSR says it can sleep four to eight people. It has three doors and weighs just under 27 pounds. Taller campers will appreciate that it can accommodate someone up to 6 feet 10 inches.
"This super-spacious, versatile shelter is designed for multi-activity group camping," according to a press release. "Unique pole geometry and oversize poles provide the strength to stand up to even the harshest conditions."
On the one hand, it's easy to imagine such a tent being the "community room" or headquarters for a group camping spot -- or even a cool backyard attraction for summer campouts. But the weight might discourage some backpackers from going the distance. Rent a llama.
Rei.com can ship it to you. Or deal directly with MSR at www.msrgear.com/tents.
