Boy arrested in Lakewood school arson

LAKEWOOD -- A 12-year-old north Snohomish County boy has been arrested on suspicion of first-degree arson in connection with a fire that caused an estimated $200,000 damage to Lakewood Elementary School on Wednesday night, officials said today.

A Snohomish County deputy fire marshal made the arrest Friday night, two days after the fire damaged two classrooms at the school.

At least eight adults near the school kept the fire from spreading while firefighters from the Marysville Fire District were en route.

The boy was taken to the Denny Youth Justice Center in Everett after his arrest, said Stephanie Price, a Marysville Fire District spokeswoman.
