Bothell hired a new city attorney who was an assistant city attorney from Auburn. Joe Beck, who has more than 12 years of municipal law experience, is scheduled to begin Sept. 2.
"I am eager to delve into the city's projects, programs and issues at hand to provide quality legal services to the city and the Bothell community," Beck said in a press release issued by the city.
This position directly reports to the city manager. The city attorney will be part of the legal department, which also includes an assistant city attorney, paralegal and an office specialist.
Beck will earn $117,924 per year.

Book group to discuss Einstein road-trip book
The Mill Creek Evening Book Group will meet at the Mill Creek Library at 7 p.m. Thursday to discuss Michael Paterniti's book "Driving Mr. Albert, A Trip Across America with Einstein's Brain." Paterniti's road-trip chronicle presents the adventures of a freelance journalist, an elderly pathologist traveling across the country with Albert Einstein's brain.
