Hackers strike GOP Web site

I’ve been wondering why the Web site of the Snohomish County Republican Party contains no pictures of candidates or partisan rooting of any volume.

It’s simply a single page of links to candidates and to the state and national party organizations. Not much in the midst of a big and busy campaign season.

Hackers are to blame, said Geri Modrell, chairwoman of the county party. They’ve struck four times in the last three months.

“They seem to be out to get us. What are they afraid of?” she said this week.

The online attackers put up nonsensical content and may have been attempting to access databases of donor names, she said.

Modrell said the site is getting its defenses bolstered and its design redone. She hopes for its launch this summer.

I doubt they've been hacked...
I hit the websites of many candidates on a daily basis so I know what they are saying about the Democratic candidates. Few of the candidates have put much imagination into their sites, possibly because you can only say, "Work to fix traffic and help small businesses" so many different ways.

Besides, if you really wanted to do some damage, you'd take control of the site and divert all their traffic to an 'adult-oriented' site.

I find it disgusting that people with a political agenda think it's okay to hack another parties website. Whether you agree with the political party or not, it is not appropriate to maliciously sabotage the opposing parties website, signs or other campaign materials.

I hope that justice is served for these hackers.
