Edmonds Library plans closure

The Edmonds Library will be closed for 18 days later this month while new carpeting is installed, library officials announced Aug. 4.

The library will close from Aug. 21 to Sept. 7 for the roughly $120,000 project. It will reopen Monday, Sept. 8.

In addition to the recarpeting, the space used by the Friends of the Edmonds Library for the book sale will be improved to make it look more like a book store, said Mary Kelly, community relations and marketing manager for the Sno-Isle Libraries. The Friends currently use carts.

The library's staff area will also get small improvements, Kelly said.

"It is always nice when a library gets a facelift," she said.

The Edmonds location is one of the largest and busiest libraries in the 21-library Sno-Isle Library system.

During the closure, the book drop will be closed, and holds that arrive will be redirected to the Lynnwood Library for pick-up.

Library materials can be returned to any Sno-Isle Library, according to a statement.

The Friends of the Edmonds Library will continue to accept donations of used books for their October book sale during the closure. Those can be turned in at the Frances Anderson Center at 700 Main St., Edmonds.
