Mill Creek Little League team shuts out Idaho

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif -- The Mill Creek Little League baseball team clinched a spot in the semifinals with a 7-0 victory over Boise, Idaho, on Tuesday at the Northwest Regional tournament.

Mill Creek improved to 3-0, with one game remaining in the round-robin portion of the six-team tournament. The top four teams advance to Thursday's semifinals.

Mill Creek and Beaverton, Ore., are both 3-0. The other teams in the Northwest bracket are Wyoming (2-1), Montana (1-2), Alaska (0-2) and Idaho (0-4).

In Tuesday's game, Joakim Soderquist homered and drove in two runs to lead Mill Creek. Jason Todd also drove in a pair of runs for the victors.

Four Mill Creek pitchers combined for the shutout. They allowed just two hits and struck out nine. Derrick Mahlum pitched the first 3 1/3 innings to earn the vicrtory.
