Bergeson lands backing of big union

Terry Bergeson, who is trying to win another term as the state's superintendent of public instruction, won the endorsement today of one of Washington's powerful labor organizations.

The Washington State Labor Council, AFL-CIO announced its support for Bergeson, who is seeking a fourth term in office. The council is made up of a slew of unions representing machinists and aerospace workers, firefighters, public employees and laborers.

This is good news for Bergeson who's best known opponent, Randy Dorn, is executive director of the union representing public school employees. He has snared his employer's backing. He also has won support from the statewide teachers union, Washington Education Association.
